The Brands That Said "Screw the Rules" — And Won Big

Last week at the grocery store, I was looking at energy drinks.

There were many brands, but I chose Red Bull.

Not because it tastes great (it doesn't), but because Red Bull means something more.

This is the brand that made history by having someone jump from space.

That's pretty rebellious!

That's when I realized something: great brands don't just sell you stuff. They sell you a feeling and a way of life.

Take Red Bull itself as an example. They're not just selling energy drinks. They're all about extreme sports and adventure.

When you buy Red Bull, you're buying into being brave and fearless.

That's why their slogan is "Red Bull gives you wings."

Liquid Death did something clever with plain water.

They put water in cans and made it look like beer.

They use scary skulls and funny jokes in their ads. Now people don't just buy water, they buy an attitude.

Then there's Oatly, who makes oat milk.

They're not afraid to be bold, saying things like "It's like milk, but made for humans." They speak up for the environment and aren't afraid to be different.

These brands make me wonder: when we create our own brands, are we playing it too safe?

Being like everyone else won't make you stand out.

Cards Against Humanity is a game that's famous for being silly and shocking.

They do weird things like selling nothing on Black Friday, and people love them for it!

Fun Fact: They even sued Elon Musk.

Even Notion, which helps you stay organized, did something different. They made their tool beautiful and fun to use. It's not just about getting work done – it's about making your digital workspace your own.

Here's what you can lean from this: Playing it safe makes people forget you. The brands that win are the ones that dare to be different. They create something people want to be part of.

So what's holding you back from being different?

Tell me one brave thing you could do with your brand this week. Reply and let me know!

Stay bold, stay stupid!

And also have a nice weekend.
