Do you want applause at the mercy of Piracy?

As creators, piracy is not new to us, it’s kinda a second nature.

Every designer has at least one pirated font on their computer.

I’ll admit, I had pirated fonts when I started as a graphic designer. But now I’m trying to redeem myself by purchasing fonts that I want.

So you might be wondering what this has to do with this newsletter.

Every creator, designer, artist, filmmaker, and musician wants appreciation.

Almost everything we do is for appreciation.

When a designer makes a poster, he/she wants people to admire it.When a filmmaker makes a movie, he/she wants a standing ovation from the audience. When a musician releases an album, he/she wants people to get lost in it.

So everything rounds up to appreciation.

But also everyone has financial needs. Every creator wants money. But leaving the financial needs aside, the main motto is appreciation.

Although occasionally the creator gets the appreciation without the financial outcomes, thanks to piracy.

Piracy is wrong.

Let’s save that whole talk for later.

But how exactly are all these three related?

When a creator makes something new, people start pirating it. However, then the point to be noted is that the appreciation remains the same no matter what.

Let’s say a new movie released and within an hour the movies go out on torrents and people get to watch them without paying money.

Nevertheless, they still appreciate the beauty of the film.

I mean, that’s the goal, right?

To get his workout there and reach maximum people and get appreciated for that.

The reason I’m sharing this is that I had an incident a while back. I got an email from someone saying that they loved a poster I made and a printed copy of the photo was attached.

I was happy even though she did not purchase the poster from my store, instead, she got it from Pinterest, and she printed it out herself.

Ultimately, the only thing I cared about was the appreciation and the impact I had on that person.

So, If your creativity is driven by a desire to get attention, you are never going to be creatively fulfilled.
