Greatness
It is reserved for everyone is a small or a large scale.
A brilliant Space Plumber, Howard Joel Wolowitz once said
“I guess the sad truth is that not everyone will accomplish something great, some of us may just have to find meaning in the little moments that make up life.”
When I heard these words for the first time, it hit me hard. All the time I was thinking of changing the world and becoming ‘that guy’, I was ignoring the little things within me.
I was someone who always thought of greatness as this massive thing where I had to be appreciated by a million people.
But now I understand that it is not true.
Greatness is reserved for everyone is a small or a large scale.
It’s up to us to appreciate the people in our life who accomplish them.
A son who gives up his dream of becoming a pro footballer to work two jobs and support his family is greatness.
A teacher mentoring a student is greatness. Even in the field of sports, taking your local club to the championship is greatness.
Nike captured this perfectly in their 2012 Olympic Campaign video titled the same. Watch it here.
It doesn’t matter what you achieve in life and what you don’t.
If the people around you make you happy and vice versa, you have an accomplished life.
It’s up to us to find happiness and fulfillment in the little things that happen to us regularly.
