Ignore the most toxic advice about building dreams on the internet

We’ve all heard this, and most of us have hated ourselves for it.

If you don't chase your dreams, someone will hire you to build theirs.

This is a very common and popular line on the internet.

And it has a huge problem which needs to be addressed.

The Internet is all about people poking people who work at a 9-5 job.

And I hate it every time I see those kinds of posts.

Why is it bad that you want to build someone else's dream?

What if that dream is for the greater good of the world or even if it’s a smaller company, and it positively impacts people’s life in your community?

What if Steve Jobs didn’t have Jony Ive?

What if he didn’t have Guy Kawasaki?

What if he didn’t have Tim Cook?

And the list goes on.

The dream Jobs had could have never been possible without his amazing team and his dream.

And working for a dream like this that literally changed is not so bad if you ask me.

This applies to countless other companies and people whose names we don’t even know.

You could be working in a company that provides affordable food to your neighbourhood.

You could be doing a million other things that play vital roles in the lives of other people.

My parent’s employ close to 20 people and if you ask every single person they would say they are working on something that makes them and their family happy.

Are we brainwashing them?

Absolutely not.

People have left our company to build their own, and we’ve always been very supportive and appreciative of that.

Sometimes we even try to give them a little business that makes them even happier.

And also, there have been times when people have come back after trying, and we welcome them with open arms.

But that doesn’t mean we want them to fail.

The whole point of this is to tell you that you can be a part of someone else’s dream or build yours.

But never criticize the other for doing so.

It’s great if you want to build something of your own. The world needs more stupid people. (As always a compliment)

However, never criticize the other for doing what they love.

Even after all these years as an entrepreneur, I wish to go work for a company that is building something meaningful.

As most of my business is fully automated, thanks to the wonderful people I work with.

Who knows, maybe I get to work for a company that is creating an impact.

It is a dream in itself to build a dream that creates an impact, even if it is someone else’s.
