Why do we want certain companies to win?
Is it because of the discounts? Or is it something else?
Humans are weird creatures, we take so much pride in defending our favourite sports teams.
But why do we do the same for certain companies & brands?
It’s because of how they make us feel and the values that they stand for.
We support teams that we haven’t even watched play in-person, and the same goes with the companies as well.
For me personally, I wanted companies like Apple, Notion, Jockey, Zoho, Zerodha, Netflix, Zomato & Daily Objects to succeed no matter what.
And certain small startups by my friends like Supermeme, Grey Feathers, Boutee Kadai, Aurora Academy, Tamilpreneur, ScrollMe, and it’s a long list too.
It keeps updating.
But the funny part is, I’m not a customer of Zerodha or Zoho. I use Groww for my investments and my company uses G-Suite and I personally, use Apple Mail.
The reason I want them to succeed, is because of the values the founders have instilled in their companies. Sridhar Vembu & Nikhil Kamath have spoken so much for and against a lot of stuff that I resonate with and that makes me what them to succeed.
Another example is Notion. Even thought I’m not a power user, but I definitely want them to win for the community-driven approach.
How can I forget the Arc Browser by ‘The Browser Company’? I never wanted to like a product as much I wanted to like Arc Browser, but I don't understand why it’s too complicated.
If it works for you, then I guess you are cool!
This list of companies might be different for you, and that’s how it should be.
It’s all about how that company or brand makes you feel. It’s not something that can just be bought with money.
It’s much more than that.
It’s because of how they make us feel and the values that they stand for.
The same goes with the sports teams. If you are eager to learn to branding, look into your favourite sports team. If you don’t have one, try a sport and understand why you want a team to win. Choose a league and not a national team.
Btw, none of the companies are paying me to write this. But that’s the power of the branding. But I won’t say no to doing paid promotion for any of these companies, lol.
And if I have left out companies, it’s because of my lack of sleep. Not that I don’t like yours.
Don’t even get me started on why I want certain people to succeed xD.
